  Zandra Anderson

Ms. Anderson is a practicing Houston trial attorney handling Texas Dog Law issues, personal injury litigation, medical negligence, and products liability. She has handled cases involving cruelty, dangerous dog declarations, dog bites, animal custody, kennel liability, dog trainer liability, pet sitter liability, homeowner association issues regarding animals, kennel name infringement, adoption contract disputes, rescue liability and BSL issues. She is an advocate for responsible dog laws at the state and local levels, and she acts as a consultant to cities and counties regarding drafting their animal ordinances. She is the author of the Texas Dog Law Manual© 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, and is Legal Counsel to Spindletop Refuge, a no-kill dog rescue in Willis, Texas. She is a member of the Animal Law Section of the State Bar and is also licensed in Colorado. She resides in Hilshire Village with her two dogs, Zeus and Zena, where she is on City Council.

    Ralph Canada  

Mr. Canada is a partner with the firm of Canada-Withrow based in Grapevine, Texas just outside of Dallas. He graduated cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1979 where he was Editor-in-Chief of the Harvard Environmental Law Review. Mr. Canada has significant trial and litigation experience handling tax matters in courts and arbitration tribunals throughout the country. His areas of practice include a diverse array of complex commercial disputes including business torts, contract disputes, securities fraud, tax, copyright infringement, real estate development, construction, landlord-tenant disputes and professional malpractice. Mr. Canada has served on the Board of the SPCA of Texas and as its Vice President. He has been a speaker for the Animal Law Section of the State Bar of Texas on animal issues. Mr. Canada resides in the Dallas area with his Great Dane, Andy.

  Aaron Herbert

Mr. Herbert has been licensed since 2002 and attended law school at the University of Oklahoma. He is a Dallas native and practices in his home city with the Rad Law Firm. Mr. Herbert is already a seasoned trial lawyer and has tried thirty four cases successfully in his six years of practice. He practices in the areas of Personal Injury Law, Premises Liability, Insurance Bad Faith, Medical Malpractice, Products Liability, Construction Law, General Civil Litigation, Criminal Defense and Consumer Rights, and has handled numerous dog bite cases. He is a member of the American Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Texas Trial Lawyers Association, Young Texas Lawyers Association, Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, Dallas Bar Association, and Tarrant County Bar Association. Mr. Herbert resides in Dallas with his registered Australian Cattle Dog (Queensland Terrier), Shelby, but her full name is Shelby Red Assassin.

  Sherry L. Talton

Ms. Talton received her law degree from the University of Texas in Austin in 2001. She practices complex commercial litigation including intellectual property matters at Shore Chan Bragalone, LLP in Dallas, Texas. Prior to joining Shore Chan Bragalone, she gained extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts in Texas, Louisiana, and other states as an associate at Baron & Budd, P.C. She is the associate editor of Litigation News, a publication of the American Bar Association and is a frequent contributor to Headnotes a publication of the Dallas Bar Association. Ms. Talton is the proud of owner of two black cocker spaniels named Dallas and Star—all fans of Dallas Stars hockey. She is a supporter of DFW Cocker Spaniel Rescue and serves on the board of Camp Fire USA Lone Star Council, a non-profit organization that has empowered youth in the Dallas area since 1913.

  Animal Control Officer  

There will be an animal control officer speak about the practical application of state and local animal laws in the field. He or she will talk about what they encounter on a daily basis in doing their job including the challenges and the rewards. The speaker will address the various documents they use in their profession such as seizure warrants, dangerous dog notices, and Class C Misdemeanor Tickets.
